Trained Doulas serve and assist women to have safer and more pleasant birth experiences!
A Birth "Doula” is a trained labor companion who devotes herself to labor with pregnant women as they work to bring forth in childbearing. Women need companions to accompany them in this strategic time of life, and of giving life. Someone they can trust to support them emotionally, socially, physically, and to advocate for them. This brings about a better and safer birth experience for both mother and child. These skills can be adapted for most locations where missionaries would serve pregnant women. This course also can equip workers who are already serving in other capacities to reach out to those in the community through service in health facilities. No prior knowledge of birth is assumed in this course and this is a non-medical program. You are taught how to help women and then there are possible sites for an internship to give hands-on experience!
