Midwife Assistant Course A Midwife Assistant serves midwives, as they care for their clients. The assistant's care is primarily of women and families with normal pregnancies, and is always under the supervision of an approved health care provider. In this program, the students learn basic, entry level health care skills with a specific focus on midwifery in the community. This care includes basic prenatal care, labor, birth, postpartum and newborn care. It also gives an introduction to various international requirements for midwifery credentials, writing initial protocols, emergency care. The midwifery instructors and clinical preceptors, who verify documentation of knowledge and skills achievements, are health care providers holding professional credentials in their field.
